Medalist Golf has made a major investment in equipment to allow us to get the job done right and on time, below are examples of the equipment employed in the construction of a golf course.

Caterpillar D4 Bulldozer
The D4 Dozer is the smallest bulldozer Medalist Golf uses. It is operated by the Shapers for the purpose of detailed dirt shaping and forming to give the golf course the look required by the architect, including the building of greens, tees, and bunker complexes. In this image the operator is building a bunker next to the green core at Cherokee Country Club.
John Deere 650 Bulldozer The JD650 Crawler Tractor is comparable to the Cat D4. It is operated by the Shapers for the purpose of detailed dirt shaping and forming to give the golf course the look required by the architect. Since it is slightly larger it can also be used in rough shaping and the upkeep of roads. Here the operator is spreading sand in a waste bunker at Belfair Plantation.
Caterpillar D5 Bulldozer
The D5 Dozer is slightly larger than the JD650. It is operated by the Shapers for the purpose of detailed dirt shaping and forming to give the golf course the look required by the architect. Being slightly larger it can also be used in rough shaping and earth moving operations as well as the upkeep of roads. This bulldozer is building a tee complex at Cherokee Country Club.
John Deere 750 Bulldozer The 750 Dozer is slightly larger than the D5. It is operated by the Shapers for the purpose of detailed dirt shaping and forming to give the golf course the look required by the architect. It is the largest bulldozer used for this purpose. It can also be used in rough shaping and earth moving operations as well as the upkeep of roads. This operator is building a dam at Hawk's Ridge Golf Club.

John Deere 892 ELC Excavator This machine is one of the largest machines used in golf course construction. It can be used in earthmoving operations as well as storm drainage installation. Here it is excavating a site for an undergound cart storage facility at Cherokee Country Club.
Caterpillar 330 Excavator
Roughly the same size as the 892, the 330 is used for the same operations. This one is loading an off-road hauler during earthmoving operations. The bucket of this machine can pick up close to four cubic yards of dirt with each scoop.
John Deere 120 Excavator This is a smaller version of the 892, it is used for installing subsurface drainage under 12" in diameter. This machine is also outfitted with a "knuckle" which allows the operator to swivel the bucket giving him much greater control over the shape it leaves on the ground. This is very useful in the shaping of bunker complexes.

Off-Road 6X6 Haulers
This Hauler is used in earth moving operations. They come in different sizes capable of hauling up to 21 yards of earth on one load. This shot shows the versatility of the hauler as the only vehicle able to move this rock. It is being transported to the location of a large water feature near #1 Green at Reynold's Plantation.
Ford Flatbed Dump Truck This truck is an all-purpose hauler, used for transporting pipe, gravel, bunker sand, or anything that needs to be moved around and placed on a site. In this photo the truck is dumping premium bunker sand into the fabric-lined bunkers at Cherokee Country Club.
Hydraulic Dump Trailer
This implement is towed behind a tractor for moving large quantities of materials around a delicate site. The large tires allow it to be towed across grass without damaging the turf on remodel or small projects.

Ford 545D 4X4 Tractor
This tractor is an all purpose machine, it is used by finish graders to prepare the ground for planting. Also used to put the final adjustments on greens subgrades and rock picking operations. The operator here is using the tractor to float out greens mix prior to the finished grade operations.

Case 560 Trencher This machine is used for digging small trenches very quickly. Used for installing small drainage tile and pipes in greens, bunkers, and fairways. This is also used by the Irrigation Division during installation of the irrigation system. This machine is cutting a trench in the subgrade of a green core at Cherokee Country Club.
Case 860 Trencher
This machine is used for digging small trenches very quickly. Much larger than the 560, the 860 can be used for installing irrigation mainline and drain pipe up to 8" in diameter.
New Holland 865 Skid Steer Perhaps the most versatile machine on a job site, the skid steer is used in more ways than any other machine from greens construction through to grassing. By the switching the bucket for a set of forks or any of the numerous attachments, it becomes an entirely different machine. They can also be fitted with tracks to work in muddy conditions.
Toro Sand Pro
The Sand Pro is a small 3-wheeled vehicle generally used by golf courses for maintaining the sand traps. Medalist uses them to get the grades on the greens just right to ensure a uniform depth of greens mix on each green. This Sand Pro is matting the green to smooth the surface following incorporation of fertilizer. This is the final step before planting of the green.
